Em được dịp biết đến anh nhờ một dịp xem podcast của bác Vũ Kim Hạnh. Từ những chia sẻ hết sức thú vị, dí dỏm đó mà em tìm đọc lại những bài Blogspot cũ, Substack này và các video khác em tìm được trên internet của anh. Những chia sẻ của anh giúp cho em có thêm kiến thức, góc nhìn mới mẻ hơn về cuộc sống, công nghệ. Nhờ vậy mà bây giờ em có động lực tìm hiểu về mã hoá, bảo mật, một lĩnh vực mà em chưa bao giờ nghĩ mình sẽ học về nó. Cám ơn anh vì những kiến thức, thông tin, cảm hứng đã truyền đạt đến mọi người. Em xin chúc anh gặt hái được nhiều thành công và luôn có nhiều sức khoẻ để có thể tiếp tục hành trình chia sẻ này, dù bất cứ ở đâu, nền tảng hay ngôn ngữ nào <3
Hi Thai brother, I’ve been reading your writing since the Covid-era posts. I understand the need to focus, especially when Calif has a rare global opportunity in front of it. And of course no one is entitled to your time, your topics, or your language.
The only part that makes me sad is that “competing with the world” now seems tied to “not writing in Vietnamese” or “not writing about Vietnam”. To me those are related, but not the same. Vietnamese was never the wall. The wall is probably the friction, noise, and emotional tax around trying to do things for Vietnam.
Your Vietnamese writing has helped many of us look beyond the local frame and understand what world-class means. So if English is where the work needs to be now, I get it. I just hope Vietnamese does not become collateral damage. Wish you and Calif all the best, and I hope “someday I’ll come back” includes the language too.

You're absolutely right. I know many talented and dedicated Vietnamese people abroad, just like you, who have also hit their heads against the wall trying to do something for Vietnam, only to end up returning overseas after wasting a lot of time, effort, and money.

-> this quote summarizes the reason why many talented people leave Vietnam for the US and never come back. Many people want to give back to Vietnam, but it's not worth their time and effort (which are extremely valuable) just to bang their heads against a wall.
As Vietnamese, we are the inevitable outcomes of a structured system, not just random numbers falling out of the void. That’s why, after going full circle, you’ll find yourself back in Vietnam 😁
